happy ‘yorkshire day’?!

Apparently today is Yorkshire Day. Not that I want to diminish the great county – I am a great fan of it and grateful to have grown up in Sheffield, South Yorkshire (otherwise known as the People’s Republic / The Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire) but I think that a national day to celebrate is perhaps, well, a little out of character…

Having just returned from an all-too-brief trip to my hometown, however, and missing the dry banter, slightly sunnier weather and – sorry Edinburgh – much better nightlife already, I’m up for marking the occasion with a celebratory song.

Here’s a very Sheffield track from The Arctic Monkeys
